I always thought these shoes were cute. So when Finn was old enough to start walking I had to get him a pair. The only problem was the price. I’m sure most people wouldn’t think twice about paying $50ish on a pair of shoes for their child. But I’m not most people. Some might call me frugal, but I like to think of myself as smart. And the way Finn goes through shoes, I’d be paying hundreds of dollars each year if I bought him new shoes every time he outgrew a pair. Seriously…..I bought him 5 pair of Keen shoes between April and September 2009. That’s why I always buy them (and then resell them) on Ebay or Craigslist. In all cases, I was able to resell them for the same money, or MORE! And the beauty of Keen’s is that they’re machine washable, and made out of rubber (footbeds) and nylon webbing. So after a quick wash you’d never know that they didn’t just come out of the box. They’re almost indestructible.
Another great thing about these is the elastic cord lace and adjustable hook and loop strap lets kids put them on and take them off by themselves. And they’re nice and wide in the toe area…perfect for my son’s extra wide feet! They also have quick-drying webbing which is perfect for when kids are in and out of the water and everywhere else. Jumping in puddles? No problem. Playing in the sandbox? No problem. My son even wears them with socks when it’s cooler outside. Here in NC he can pretty much wear these 10 months of the year.
So would I recommend these to all my friends? Yes. And there’s nothing that I would change about them either. In fact, they’re so great, my husband and I both own pairs too!
