Finn got this car for his 2nd birthday, back in June, and he plays with it every single day. It says on the package that it’s recommended for ages 12 months+, but there’s no way a 12 month old would ever be able to figure this out. Not that it’s hard to operate, mind you, but there was definitely a learning curve. The remote has one large button on it, which is perfect for first-time users, but depending on how you push the one button it either goes forward, or spins counter clockwise. I have to say, after using it myself around a dozen times, I’ve finally become pretty good at it.
Another thing about it which be bad for some users is the type of carpet you have. We have berber carpet and tile on our first floor, with a very low pile, textured throw in our family room and the car has a really hard time moving over the throw rug. So if you have any type of texture to your carpet this car might have some trouble.
The third thing to be aware of is the noise it makes. It’s on the loud side. Not horrible, just constant. So if your child is playing with this for a long time, or leaving it on and walking away, like mine does, then you’re constantly running to turn it off just to have some piece and quiet.
All in all though, I’d recommend this as a good, first remote controlled vehicle for every child. It seems nice and sturdy, and there are no little pieces that can break off.
PROS:
- Sturdy, one-piece construction
- Easy, 1-button remote
- That battery seems to last a long time (we use ours a lot and the battery hasn’t died yet)
CONS:
- Noisy
- Has some trouble getting over textured carpets
